We had been there exactly seven years before, for the same birthday meal, and were pleased to see that it is still a family concern, even though the front-of-house family members weren’t the same as before. We got wonderful personalised attention throughout. 

This is one of very few fine dining restaurants I’d bring my kids. The hosts are among the best I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant, tailoring service to us according to whether we’re with kids, in a group, or a couple. They remember me year to year including what I drink. The food is great.

There would be tremendous scope to improve on the already impressive turnover and subsequent net profit.  Part of the owner’s accommodation on the first floor was previously used for additional dining and could be reinstated to provide an additional 24 covers and by opening its door during the day offering tea, coffee and other beverages.  Actual trading accounts will be made available following a successful formal viewing.
