Freehold Cafe/Bistro for sale in Teignmouth

The Owl & The Pussycat, 3 Teign Street, Teignmouth, Devon, TQ14 8EA

A rare treat and fast becoming a favourite haunt for many regulars and visitors alike. This highly successful 70 cover + freehold restaurant/café set in the seaside resort of Teignmouth, Devon, offers two attractive ground floor dining areas together with an enclosed courtyard, which can be used as an al fresco dining/seating area. The Owl and the Pussycat is bright and informal blending the charm and friendliness of your local restaurant in the evening, but could easily open its door during the day offering tea, coffee and other beverages along with baked goods or light meals. Above the restaurant, there is a spacious 3 bedroom luxurious self-contained apartment, currently let out as individual rooms for offices generating an impressive income. Early viewings are highly recommended....

Situated on Teign Street in the very heart of Teignmouth, Devon, it benefits from a good all year round busy trade and huge additional visitors over the summer months. The restaurant enjoys a high footfall which can only be improved if the premises were to convert to a cafe during the daytime hours. Teignmouth is an attractive seaside town on the South Devon Coast and only a short travelling distance to both Torquay and the Cathedral city of Exeter with its international airport, M5 Motorway and Paddington to London line. The location benefits from being only minutes’ walk to the harbour, seafront and a large car park opposite.

The Owl and the Pussycat has been successfully owner operated for many years and enjoys an excellent reputation from both locals and visitors to the area.  Check out some reviews below:

We had been there exactly seven years before, for the same birthday meal, and were pleased to see that it is still a family concern, even though the front-of-house family members weren’t the same as before. We got wonderful personalised attention throughout.

This is one of very few fine dining restaurants I’d bring my kids. The hosts are among the best I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant, tailoring service to us according to whether we’re with kids, in a group, or a couple. They remember me year to year including what I drink. The food is great.

There would be tremendous scope to improve on the already impressive turnover and subsequent net profit.  Part of the owner’s accommodation on the first floor was previously used for additional dining and could be reinstated to provide an additional 24 covers and by opening its door during the day offering tea, coffee and other beverages.  Actual trading accounts will be made available following a successful formal viewing.
